Arguably the most significant development in radiology since the initial discovery of X-rays by Roentgen, the CT scanner is without any doubt the core, vital imaging modality in all modern imaging departments. CT was developed in the 1970s by the English scientist Godfrey Hounsfield, for which accomplishment he was awarded the Nobel Prize for for physiology of Medicine. This year, 2019 is the hundredth anniversary of Hounsfield’s birth.
