Imaging reveals bowel abnormalities in COVID-19 patients

Patients with COVID-19 can have bowel abnormalities, including ischemia, according to a newly  published study [1].

The virus responsible for COVID-19, namely SARS-CoV-2 is thought to gain access to cells via surface expression of angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2),  so  tissues with high levels of ACE2 expression are assumed to be susceptible to direct infection.
