Mélisande Rouger, editor-in-chief of DI Europe, asked Felix Nensa, Professor of Radiology at Essen University in Germany, how AI and digital tools can help overcome current challenges in healthcare.
‘Aging population means sick patients and that means more images,’ he said. ‘AI tools can really help us be more productive and relieve the burden of this imaging.’
Most of the work that causes burnout among radiologists is related with administrative tasks, and this is the first area where AI can help, he went on. ‘I would start with workflow AI tools, and then maybe some clinical decision support tools.’
